Founded in 1970, Cedar Creek School had as its original mission to offer a superior educational experience to students of all grades throughout North-Central Louisiana. Today, we continue that mission by emphasizing a love of learning, a strong educational foundation for college, and preparation for adulthood. The High School curriculum is focused on core courses in English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, and History. A high value is placed on the writing process and clear communication with all departments working together to encourage and support each student’s personal and academic maturation.
Students move through courses in Math, Science, History, English, and Foreign Language in a sequence that is most appropriate for their skills. Cedar Creek School offers a full curriculum of college preparatory and honors college preparatory courses. In addition, we offer advanced placement courses in Calculus, English, and Science that offer an opportunity to earn up to 15 hours of college credit while fulfilling high school requirements.
In addition to providing a strong academic program, we are committed to challenging students to examine values and exercise leadership. Cedar Creek School offers our students a wide range of extracurricular activities in which they can participate. Students can join organizations such as Art Club, Chess Club, Drama Club, French Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Governors Program on Abstinence, Key Club, Leadership Creek, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Robotics, Science Fair, Social Studies Fair, Spanish Club, Student Council, and Vocal Ensemble. Students can demonstrate their writing talents by working with Pawprints, our school newspaper, or with a literary publication sponsored by our school, Cougar Reflections. Cedar Creek School also competes in a wide range of athletics including football, basketball, baseball, softball, swimming, track, cross-country, tennis, and golf.
Through our rigorous traditional curriculum, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and supportive environment, Cedar Creek School offers students the experiences needed to succeed at a wide variety of colleges and universities, including the most selective in the nation. The Cedar Creek Experience provides students with the opportunity to develop their full potential to become active, productive members of a rapidly changing society. Finally, Cedar Creek School seeks to instill in its students a spirit of disciplined inquiry, high personal expectations, democratic values, and respect for the dignity of the individual.
