Besides being very active in school activities, many of our students are active in activties throughout our community. This page allows us to highlight these students and congratulate them on their accomplishments.

11 students received the "Louisiana Student Achievement Award" from the Louisiana ACT Council for their performance on the PLAN (the Pre-ACT) Assessment. These students are on target to meet or exceed ACT's College Readiness Benchmarks by graduation. ACT's College Readiness Benchmarks are empirically-based and identify the level of achievement necessary in English, mathematics, reading and science to have a successful college freshman experience.
The students receiving this recognition from the Louisiana ACT Council are: Jacob Antee, Taylor Barron, Blake Ginn, Katie Grappe, Catherine Hild, Story Moller, Garland Pipes, William Pipes, Mark VanDenLangenberg, Allie Veatch, and Henry Wiygul.
The Louisiana ACT Council is made up of secondary and postsecondary educators who advise ACT, Inc. is the not-for-profit organization that provides assessment, research, information and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development and the publisher of the ACT Assessment. The ACT Assessment is the college admissions test that is accepted by all colleges nationwide.
According to Karen Pennell, ACT Assistant Vice President and Southwest Regional Manager, "The Louisiana ACT Council recognizes those students who are making significant strides to prepare themselves for college by taking rigorous courses and meeting the PLAN (Pre-ACT) College Readiness Benchmarks. We also want to recognize that student PLAN (Pre-ACT) achievement is the result of a strong commitment by Cedar Creek School teachers, staff, administrators and parents to increase college readiness for all students."

for being chosen as Whit's Warriors.
This scholarship program is unique and is intended for students who are looking for mentorship on how to excel in everything they do. A Whits Warrior is a student that wants to embody all the characteristics of a Leader; work ethic with balance, humility with confidence, passion with persistence, and a leader through consistency.

Cedar Creek Key Club members attended the LaMissTenn District Convention in Baton Rouge on April 20 – 22. Members included delegate Chris Warren, Key Club President Ryan Dwyer, and Key Club Lieutenant Governor Will Rudnicki. Key Club members attended officer training, club development, and service leadership seminars during the convention. Will Rudnicki was elected Lieutenant Governor for Division 6, which includes Cedar Creek, Ruston High School, Neville High School, and West Monroe High School. The Cedar Creek Key Club has 100 members and is active in many school and civic service activities. The Cedar Creek Key Club is proud to represent northeast Louisiana Division 6 and looks forward to a great 2012 – 2013 school year of service leadership.

Congratulations Chanley Patterson for being named a State Grade-Level Winner in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. Over 325,000 students participated in this year’s contest. She will now be eligible to compete for a National Grade-Level title. We are thankful for Mrs. Letlow, Chanley’s 3rd grade teacher, for promoting legible handwriting and helping her students to develop their early literacy skills. We are very proud of Chanley!

Ruby Richie, Lady Cougar basketball guard, signed a letter of intent to play basketball for
Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

Piano Solo: Sam Rudnicki, Will Rudnicki, Anna Blake, Catherine Hild and Erik Eklund.

Four students were chosen to perform on the Honors Recital that afternoon.
Anna and Will performed their piano pieces and Saraf and Lauren sang their vocal pieces.

7th graders identified by the
Duke TIP Talent Search Program
Duke TIP's 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. Since its inception in 1980, over 2 million students have participated. The 7th Grade Talent Search identifies academically talented seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exam as seventh graders, which allows them greater insight into their academic abilities. Participants also gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students.
