From early elementary through high school, our students participate in a wide range of service projects.

Service at Cedar Creek

The Cedar Creek community is committed to service. From early elementary through high school, our students participate in a wide range of service projects. Most recently our students collected items for Katrina victims, volunteered in local hurricane relief shelters, and worked in the food banks that provided aid to displaced families.

Our elementary students participate in the “Jump Rope for Heart” campaign sponsored by the American Heart Association and the "Math-a- thon” that benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Junior High students sponsor the “Give The Dog A Bone” food drive that provides food for local animal shelters. They also sponsor a stock the pantry drive for the Ronald McDonald House.

High School Students volunteer their time at area nursing homes, the Lincoln Parish Poor Man’s Supper, and the Ouachita Parish Heart Walk, as well as sponsor an annual toy drive for needy children.

Key Club Busy Serving Others

The Cedar Creek Key Club had 35 students help prepare, cook, serve and clean during the Kiwanis pancake breakfast on Friday, November 14. During the pancake breakfast, Cedar Creek Key Club members got a chance to serve others by helping raise money to fund future Kiwanis projects. Students flipped pancakes, boxed to-go orders, cooked bacon, served coffee, bussed tables and generally helped where needed. Cedar Creek Key Club also recently raised $311 for UNICEF by trick-or-treating on campus. Through projects like these, the Cedar Creek Key Club continues to build leadership skills in our students by serving our community and helping others.

Collecting Breakfast Foods

The Cedar Creek Key Club recently completed one of their yearly service projects donating 145 boxes of breakfast cereal to the Ruston Methodists Children’s Home. Cedar Creek Key Club provides service to the community throughout the year. The Key Club is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others and is associated with the Kiwanis International family.
The Cedar Creek Key Club currently has 145 members in grades 9 - 12.

Ronald McDonald "Pack the Pantry"

The National Junior Honor Society and the Junior High Student Council held their 8th Annual "Pack the Pantry" drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Monroe. The Ronald McDonald House provides a temporary residence for the families of patients who are receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals, and family members can sleep, eat, and get support from other people in similar situations while the patient is getting treatment. The Ronald McDonald House requested several items that they needed to keep their facilities stocked. The drive ran from October 13th through October 24th.

The students were given a tour of the facilities by Ms. Georgia Street, the Ronald McDonald House supervisor. Ms. Street showed the students where the families live and describe to the students how the facilities operate with the help of donations.

On October 30th the students took a field trip to the Monroe, LA Ronald McDonald House to deliver hundreds of items of food and cleaning supplies, as well as small appliances, toys, and DVD's.  The students personally donated the money to buy a much-needed toaster oven for the House.  The toaster oven was presented to Ms. Street by Maggie Davidson, President of the CCJH Student Council and Ryan Dwyer, President of the CC NJHS.  The Jr. High Student Council teacher-sponsors are Mrs. Angela Mitchell and Ms. Mary Ann Hill and the NJHS teacher-sponsor is Mrs. Kay Phillips.
