All these girls are moving forward to higher levels of competition for the 2008-2009 season which starts in October 2008. A new group of girls have been training and getting ready for the new season. THe following girls were inducted to the team at the gymnastics banquet; Amber Stevens, Emily Robken, Chelsea Johnston, Jessi McIntosh, Savannah Davis, Laney Robbins, Kendell Raley, Kinsley Spatafora, Lauren Menzina, Landri Thomas, and Dante Cecil, who will be the only boy competing for the male level 4 division for Cedar Creek. All these talented gymnasts were honored during a banquet held at San Miguel's Restaurant on April 26hth. Mrs. Claudia Cecil, her son, Roy Peregrina, and their assistant coaches, Justine Ker and Kathy Gray, have done a terrific job with these girls, especially since it is their first gymnastics competition season in the hisotry of Cedar Creek. Cedar Creek is the only school in Louisiana with a competitive team. Mrs. Cecil starts training the gymnast when they are only 4 years old, and some of them start competing as early as five years old. This is a sport that girls need to start at a young age because they reach elite levels in junior high or high school. Mrs. Cecil is always looking for talented girls and boys.
Cedar Creek's Gymnastics One of State's Best Cedar Creek is very grateful for the commitment that it's inaugural group of gymnasts has put into the school's newest sport. Carley Bowman, Lexi Oliver, Lauren Wade, Lauren Houck, Annamari Farrar, Logan Brown, Hannah Stadius, Anitra Milford, Cassandra Milford, Katherine Maxwell, Annabelle Yates, Caroline Hill, Harly Robinson, Halie Robinson and Kaylie Stevens are putting the Cougars on the gymnastic map.

Less than two months later they entered the Louisiana Open in Baton Rouge and brought home 45 medals and 1st place for the team. Team member Lexi Oliver received the highest scores in both competitions and is the favorite to win state in April. However, Lauren Wade, Lauren Houck, Harlie Robinson, and Caroline Hill are also very close in the competition. In addition to this group of gymnasts, a new group is preparing for the 2008/2009 season. They are Laney Robins, Savannah Davis, Jessi McIntosh, Chelsea Johnston, Emily Robken, Kinslee Spatafora, Landri Thomas, and Kendell Rayle. We are very fortunate to have Mrs Cecil, with her vast array of knowledge , as our gymnastic's coach. Mrs. Cecil has been involved in gymnastics since the age of four. She held a spot on Mexico's National Team of Gymnasts for 10 years. We would also like to thank Roy Peregrina, Justine Ker, and Kathie Gray for helping Mrs. Cecil with the gymnastics team. If you believe your child has a speicial talent for gymnastics, please contact Mrs. Cecil for details.
GOOD LUCK IN NEW ORLEANS!

This season, the Cedar Creek Varsity Girls team placed in the top 10 in every meet. They placed in the top 5 in all but 1. They received 2 second places, 2 first places, and ended the season as the State Champions of class 1A. The only team smaller than 3A that beat them this season was the eventual State Championship team of 2A, St. Thomas Aquinas, the home of the state's fastest and #3 ranked girl in the nation. Early in the season, we were forced to split up our team into an "A" team and a "B" team at the Lafayette Invitational, according to their meet's rules. Our "A" team came in 4th place and our "B" team came in 9th place. The only teams that placed higher than us at Lafayette were the eventual champions and runner-up of classes 4A and 5A. The girls repeated as the small school champion of the Menard Invitational for the 7th consecutive year. At Menard, our girls defeated the eventual State Champions of Class C and Class B. The girls finished the regular season by winning the West Monroe Invitational, beating the likes of 5A West Monroe, Ouachita H.S., Byrd H.S. and a host of other schools much larger than Cedar Creek. A strong championship legacy was established years ago at Cedar Creek. Our school has consistently produced the best in the state in class 1A.
