Athletic Highlights

Hall of Fame

Ashley Aldredge, one of our Cedar Creek student athletes has accomplished serveral feats that have never been done in the history of this school.  She has been one of our top Track and Field athletes and, in particular, she has shined in throwing the javelin.

Ashley is the Cedar Creek record holder, the Louisiana State Class A record holder, and four time state champion in the javelin.  She was the United States Track and Field Junior Olympics Regional champion in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
She was the United States Track and Field Junior Olympics National Champion and National Record holder in 2009.
She has been named as a Track and Field High School All American for the past two years and look foward to her accomplishing the feat again this year.

Last summer, Ashley had the second best javelin throw, for her age group, in the nation and is the preseason number one ranked thrower for this year.
Because of her continuous outstanding performances, she was selected to be a member of the United States World Youth Team.  In July, Ashley traveled to Italy to represent our country in the World Youth Games.  Ashley finished 20th in the world at these games.

Because of her accomplishments, Ashley's Untied Stated track jersey and picture will permanently hang in the gym lobby in the Cedar Creek Hall of Fame.

Ashley has verbally committed to throw for the 2009 National Champion Texas A&M Track team next year.

The Courgar Relays are on Friday, March 19th.  Make plans to watch Ashley and the entire Cougar and Lady Cougar track teams compete here at Cougar Stadium.

Cedar Creek earned honorable mention berths.  The group included quarter back Jordan Scelfo, defensive lineman Hunter Bennett and offensive lineman Josh Cox and Clayton Avery.

Scelfo was in his first year as a QB starter and finished with 2,341 total offensive yards.  He passed for 1,810 and 12 touchdowns and also had 13 rushing scores.

Cox  and Avery were two of the main reasons why Scelfo and such other offensive contributors as running back Austin Ginn and wideouts Connor Dwyer and Adam Van enjoyed success during the past season.

Bennett wound up an outstanding career for the Cougars as one of their best defensive players ever.
He established a new school career mark for sacks (he had three during the year), recorded 76 tackles, broke up two passes, caused two fumbles, registered 11.5 stops for minus yards and recovered two fumbles.

Ashley Aldredge Earns All-America Honors

Thanks to a banner season last spring and summer, Cedar Creek javelin star Ashley Aldredge has earned her second High School All-America berth on the USA Track and Field News publication. Included in the December 2009 issue, Aldredge's latest honor comes on the heels of a junior campaign in which she began strong but soon found herself sidelined for much of the prep season last spring with a knee injury.
Aldredge, who also participates in basketball and softball for the Lady Cougars, rebounded in time to win her fourth straight state high school javelin title and then go on to have a super season during summer competition.
Aldredge's throw of 158-5 was the second best throw in the nation during 2009, trailing only senior Heather Bergmann,  a Kansas product who posted a 162-8 throw.
The Cedar Creek standout set a USATF Junior Olymipics national record during the summer and was runner up at the USAFT World Youth Trails in Ypsilanti, Michigan, which earned her a slot on the USA team that traveled to Suditrol, Italy, in July for the IAAF World Youth Championships.
