Cedar Creek's softball program has a very rich history of excellence both on and off the field.



 Softball

Cedar Creek's softball program has a very rich history of excellence both on the field and in the classroom.  The Lady Cougars have won or shared 15 district titles in 17 years while qualifing for 17 LHSAA state softball tournaments in the last 18 years and won the state championship in 1994.  Head coach, Joey Adams enters his 10th season as head coach (15th overall) and is the winningest softball coach in school history with an overall record of 223-90-15.  The softball coaching staff includes Andrew Yepson, Erin McGownan, Haley Gaston, Marisa Estes and Chris Gray.

In 2009, Cedar Creek won 2 of the 4 tournaments they entered and amassed a 26-7-1 record.  The playoffs brought victories over Christian Life, Vermillion Catholic and Oberlin before the Lady Cougars eventually fell in the semi-finals.  The past two years have combined for an amazing 56-15-2 overall record.

On the field, the 2009 version was once again one of the best teams ever assembled at Cedar Creek. The Lady Cougars featured 9 - 1st teams 2-1A players: Hayley Gaston (SR-Pitcher), Hope Alexander (SR-1B), Marisa Estes (SR-2B), Ashley Aldredge (JR-UT), Lauren Kirkland (SO-C), Samantha Roberts (JR-OF), Jamie Young (SR-OF), Katilin Hanna (SR-UT), Lauren Yepson (FR-DP) and 3-2nd team 2-1A players: Lauren Ingram (JR-UT), Wendi Henderson (FR-3B), Lauren Till (FR-P).  

 


Senior pitcher Hayley Gaston was named the Shreveport-Times All-Area Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.  With Lauren Kirkland, Lauren Yepson and Hope Alexander also being named to the All-Area team.       

              
The All-Lincoln team featured Player of the Year   Hayley Gaston, Hope Alexander, Lauren Kirkland,   Lauren Yepson, Jamie Young, Marisa Estes and Samantha Roberts.  The Class A All-State team featured 1st teamers Hayley Gaston and Jamie Young and Honorable mentions in Hope Alexander and Samantha Roberts.   

        
                                          
  

Off the field, the Lady Cougars had four seniors named to the LHSAA Academic All-State team: Hayley Gaston, Jamie Young, Marisa Estes and Kaitlin Hanna.  Academic All-District 2-1A members included: Hayley Gaston, Jamie Young, Marisa Estes, Katilin Hanna, Hope Alexander, Samantha Roberts, Lauren Kirkland, Lauren Ingram, and Lauren Dowling.

In 2010, The Lady Cougars will once again play one of the most challenging schedules in Class A.  Included in the schedule, will be (5A) West Monroe, Ouachita, (4A) Ruston, Neville, District 2-1A rivals as well as the Southwood Tournament and Sulphur Tournament.  The Lady Cougars will once agin host their annual tournament on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe with over 20 area teams schuduled to compete.
