LETTERS ABOUT LITERATURE CONTEST WINNERS

May 21, 2019

Dear Ms. Rowling and Mr. Riordan … Two Cedar Creek students placed first and third respectively in the State Library of Louisiana’s annual Letters about Literature contest. Donovan Turpin and Lauren Shirley wrote personal letters to J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan to explain how their work changed the their way of thinking about the world or themselves.

Winning students receive $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place, and they will be recognized at the Louisiana Book Festival in November in Baton Rouge. Louisiana’s first place winners’ entries have been submitted to the Library of Congress for the national competition.
