Gifted learners may enroll in advanced courses to earn additional credits and pursue subjects of interest. Pre-AP Academy (formerly Advanced Honors) begins in seventh grade with Academy English, math, and science courses. Eighth graders earn high school credits and prepare for rigorous advanced coursework. Cedar Creek offers 15 AP courses for students in grades 9-12.
Enrollment in Pre-AP Academy and other advanced courses is based on qualifying standardized test scores and exams. Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses taken for high school credit offer one (1) additional quality point added to the student’s GPA. Academy courses taken for middle school credit in grades 7 and 8 add three (3) points to the student’s nine week’s grade each quarter.
