Spelling success

December 17, 2018

It was a “vicious” contest … Not really, but the winning word for this year’s Cedar Creek Spelling Bee was “vicious,” and the winner was eighth grader Devika Dua, a three-time school-level winner. Second place was Lesley Osafa, and her twin sister, Lindsey, took third. Dua and Osafo will compete at Louisiana State University-Shreveport in the Regional Spelling Bee Feb. 23.  The winner of the regional bee will advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C., in late May.

Other competitors were Krish Dua, Averie Moon, Madison Stringer, Marley Jinks, Govind Prakash, Carter Lewis, Owen Sun, Nolan Martin, Jack Bell, Anna Grace Johnson, Zoey Venters, Anhaar Wasi, Max Hamlin and Annie Jones.
