Alumni Spotlight: William “Willy” Jones ’08

Cedar Creek School graduate William “Willy” Jones is thriving in the heart of Nashville, where his legal skill and deep-rooted love for music have helped him build a successful career in the entertainment industry. A member of the Cedar Creek Class of 2008, Jones has carved a dynamic path that blends law, business, and creativity in one of the most competitive industries in the world.

After graduating from Cedar Creek, Jones earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, followed by a Juris Doctor from Belmont University College of Law in Nashville. His journey into the entertainment world began at Red Light Management, the largest artist management company globally, where he worked in artist management. He then joined Universal Music Group Nashville, serving as in-house counsel and later Director of Business and Legal Affairs. In this role, he negotiated major recording agreements for some of the biggest names in country music, including Eric Church, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, and Sam Hunt.

In 2022, Jones transitioned into private practice at Loeb & Loeb, a prestigious entertainment law firm that has been named “Law Firm of the Year” seven times in the past decade by Best Lawyers in the Entertainment Law - Music category. As an associate in the firm’s Nashville office, Jones represents a wide array of clients across the music industry, including iconic artists, acclaimed songwriters, publishers, and major record labels.

Among his most notable recent accomplishments are representing Dolly Parton, advising on the high-profile sale of Morgan Wallen’s master recordings, and handling catalog sales for music legends such as Otis Redding Jr., Canadian Hall of Fame inductee Corey Hart, and country superstar Sam Hunt. In recognition of his rising influence, MusicRow Magazine honored Jones in its 2025 “Next Big Thing (N.B.T.) Industry Directory.”

Jones lives in Nashville with his wife Lauren and their three children: Izabela (4), Grady (1 year), Jude (2 months). Despite his busy schedule, he remains connected to his Cedar Creek roots. He is the proud uncle of four current students Sutton and Beau Simmons, and Lily Cate and Shep Landry. He recalls his time on the football and baseball fields to be the highlight of his high school years, and credits Coach Ben Haddox to be the teacher who had the greatest impact on him.

William Jones shows what it means to follow your passion with purpose and determination. His story can inspire students and alumni alike that with hard work and passion, you can be living the dream.
